Sweet Caroline’s Sweet Treats

Logo, business card, and packaging designed for a local sweet shop.

My Process

  1. Define the Goals

The first step in the success of any project is to establish clear and concise goals. It is crucial to understand the needs and desires of everyone involved.

At the very beginning of this project, I sent my client a questionnaire. At this point, I already knew she wanted a logo and business card. But the questionnaire allowed me to learn more about her business, target audience, color palettes she liked, etc. She also let me know that she wanted a cake or cupcake in the logo design.

  2. Research

This is where I start looking at the competition and the target audience. This helps me identify areas where your business can differentiate yourself and stand out in the market.

I began looking at competitors’ designs. For this project, it meant looking at different local bakeries and sweet shops. I looked at the trends and what the intended audience was engaging with.

  3. Thumbnails

To ensure that the creative process runs smoothly, it's crucial for me to brainstorm and present my thumbnails to you before diving into a project. This step can minimize frustration and miscommunication down the line.

I came up with a few ideas and presented them to the client:

After reviewing the options, the client went with the cake with the cherry on top.

4. Review

It’s important that we review the progress I’ve made on your design before any finalizations are made.

The client requested that a birthday candle be on top of the cake instead of the cherry. We also made a decision on the color palette: pink and blue.

5. The Final Product

Great news! Your design is officially complete! It's time to get the final files and put the plans into effect.
